Jennifer Dowdell, ASLA, LEED AP with Biohabitats Inc
Jennifer Dowdell will present on the new ASLA Climate and Biodiversity Action Plan and relevant applications to planning and design efforts in Kentucky- with a particular focus on Biodiversity. She will examine how dynamic, systems-based thinking enhances resilience, adaptability, and the long-term success of projects, highlighting the importance of functional ecology in a variety of accessible public realm and open space projects. Jennifer will explore the range of ways that science-based design approaches address the integration of community health and resilience, providing an overview of regenerative design principles and strategies that can be applied to a variety of projects. Jennifer will then share a few applicable project examples from other locales that highlight how we can work in dialogue with client, community, and nature to illuminate the connections between ecosystems and all their inhabitants, and a space’s capacity to heal.
